French Language Proficiency Examinations (DILF/ DELF / DALF)

The DELF (diplôme d’études en langue française: for beginners and intermediate-level learners) and DALF (diplôme approfondi de langue française: for advanced learners) exams will assess and certify your French language skills.

The DELF and DALF are two distinct internationally recognized French Language proficiency diplomas provided by the French Ministry of National Education to certify language capabilities of people who do not speak French as their first language. These examinations’ results are valid for lifetime. France Education International created the DELF and DALF diplomas, which represent the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). The six levels are completely independent of each other and each level evaluates the four key areas namely speaking, reading, writing. and listening

  • DILF (Diplôme Initial de Langue Française Initial Diploma in French)- It is aimed at the absolute starters as well as those who are new to France. It evaluates the student’s first understanding of French (level A1.1). DILF is a prerequisite for DELF and DALF. Please keep in mind that DILF is only available in French territory.
  • DELF Prim (Diplôme d’études en langue française for children aged 8-12 years) – It is for elementary school students aged 8 to 12. A1.1, A1, and A2 are the three levels of DELF Prim. It is ideal for stimulating and motivating youngsters in the learning process of the French language in the early years
  • DELF junior and DELF for schools (Diplôme d’études en langue française for teenagers) – It is designed for teenagers in the middle and high school who are between the ages of 12 and 18 years. DELF for schools and DELF junior are separated into four levels: A1, A2, B1 and B2. It is a significant step forward in the process of youngsters learning French and validating their talents in the language.
  • DELF Pro (Diplôme d’études en langue française for professionals) – It is the DELF’s professional version. The goal of the DELF pro is to evaluate the communication abilities of working professionals and students who play an important role in a French-speaking environment. There are four levels in DELF Pro: A1, A2, B1, and B2.
  • DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) – It is meant for every French language learner who is above 17 years of age and who would like to evaluate the French ability in all the four areas: speaking, reading, writing and listening. All DELF diplomas relate to CEFR level A1 to B2
  • DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) – It is meant for French language enthusiasts who would like to gain proficiency in the language. It is divided in to two CEFR levels namely C1(advanced) and C2 (proficiency). DALF C2 is the highest level of certification one can achieve in the French language.

DELF DALF Examination Fees

The DELF / DALF fee structure is approved by the FRENCH MINISTRY OF NATIONAL EDUCATION. Students must pay their costs either online or in an authorized DELF testing center, such as Alliance Française or Institut Français.

DELF A1-B2 fees for external students varies from Rs 8850 to Rs 10,620.

DELF A1-B2 fees for internal students varies from Rs 5310 to Rs 5900

DALF C1-C2 fees for external students is Rs 11,800 and for internal students is Rs 8260
